Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu has revealed that President Bola Tinubu is resolute in his commitment to unlock the vast potential of the South East region, ushering in a new wave of progress and prosperity. This strategic focus is poised to be a game-changer for the country’s economic trajectory.
At a ceremony marking the defection of Cosmos Ndukwe, a former PDP presidential aspirant, and his supporters to the APC, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu revealed President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the South East region’s growth and development.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu’s ward-to-ward tour of his Bende Federal Constituency led him to Ward C, Akanu Item, in the Awuja Autonomous Community of Item, Bende Local Government Area, Abia State.
It was here that he received Cosmos Ndukwe, a former PDP presidential aspirant, and his supporters into the APC family.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu commended President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership in signing the South East Development Commission (SEDC) bill into law, a move that surpasses the efforts of his predecessors.
This historic achievement is a testament to President Tinubu’s resolve to drive meaningful progress in the region.

Kalu commended the South-East region for their maturity in abstaining from the #Endbadgovernance demonstrations, demonstrating their faith in the APC-led administration’s economic agenda.
He reassured them that the government is dedicated to implementing policies that will boost economic growth and development.
“What is happening today is significant. People are coming to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, because they know he is the only president that is doing what others couldn’t do.
“He’s a man, who has prioritized food security. More people will join our party, because they are seeing the light and they want to join our party. For 54 years, we were promised “Reconciliation, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation”, yet none was fulfilled. It was President Tinubu that remembered and signed the SEDC bill into law to develop the South East. We will continue to support him.
“It is one of our rules that when you want to join our party, you go to the grassroots. If you are a good politician, let us see your face at the ward level. So, the person we have here and the people he is coming with are well established politicians. Cosmos Ndukwe is a politician with a name. His track record is well known. From being a councillor to a presidential aspirant in PDP. He was also a deputy speaker. He’s strong politician in my constituency. So, don’t ignore him. This is a big catch”, he said.
