On Nigeria’s Democracy Day, Governor Francis Nwifuru reiterated his unflinching commitment to democratic principles, vowing to continue nurturing a culture of democracy in Ebonyi State true to the dreams of its founding fathers and inspired by the will of the people.
In a Democracy Day message, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State reiterated his administration’s dedication to entrenching democratic values, emphasizing the importance of opposition and freedom of speech.
Governor Umahi highlighted that his administration has established a democratic haven in Ebonyi State, where the rule of law is sacrosanct, citizens enjoy unfettered freedom of expression, and a robust opposition is encouraged, and he assured of his commitment to further entrenching these democratic values as the nation’s governance landscape evolves.
Dr. Monday Uzor, the chief press secretary, disclosed this information in an official statement on behalf of the governor.
The governor’s statement, released to the press, indicated that he believed the day to be an opportunity to honor the country’s democratic system and the liberties that come with it, stating that it was a occasion dedicated to commemorating the nation’s democratic values and the related privileges citizens experience.
“I am proud to say that the principles of democracy, equality, justice, and the rule of law are strictly respected in Ebonyi State under my watch.
“ On this Democracy Day, we honour the struggles of our past leaders who fought tirelessly to establish and sustain our democratic institutions.

“I recognize the contributions of our citizens who have worked to build a more just and equitable society. And I can assure you their sacrifices in enthroning democratic governance will not be forgotten.

“Let me assure you that we are committed to working assiduously to build a democracy that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
The statement quoted the governor as reaffirming his administration’s dedication to rigorously pursuing the development of a democratic system that authentically serves the people’s interests, upholds their rights, and empowers their participation, truly embodying the spirit of democracy as a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
