The Senator representing Anambra South in the National Assembly, Ifeanyi Ubah has asserted that Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has a record of insulting the clergy, the traditional institution, and critical stakeholders in the state.
Mr Kamen Ogbonna who is the head of his media department, made the assertion at the weekend while reacting to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)’s media attack on Primate Elijah Ayodele for declaring that Ubah would be a better option for Anambra people.
Mr Ogbonna said the recent publication in a national daily captioned, “APGA Bombs Primate Ayodele, calling the Primate a cash-and-carry-prophet” was synonymous with Governor Soludo’s established record of throwing caution to the wind while exhibiting, according to him, careless and obviously fear-induced acts of braggadocio and cluelessness.
“Just as was recounted in the biblical story of King Saul when he disobeyed the Lord and the glory departed from him and rested on King David, Governor Soludo has not relented one bit in throwing subtle punches since he got overwhelmed by Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah’s apparently divine endorsement to take Anambra to the height it truly deserves in this present generation.

“Since the news of Senator Ubah’s entry into the APC broke, coupled with the powerful, albeit surprising rumoured combo of “a big masquerade”, deputy from the central, Soludo, and his minion’s immediate response was to embark on panic-induced knee-jerk reactions that made Ndi Anambra conclude that indeed, the glory has departed from Gov Soludo and that another has been anointed by God to take over.
“Strange actions suddenly became the order of the day by Soludo’s government.
“Traditional rulers started getting threatened with suspensions for daring to confer chieftaincy titles on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in appreciation of his giant strides in security, especially as a legislator.
“The highly revered Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, CFR, lent his voice in condemning this affront on the traditional institution in line with the Igbo adage that an elder does not sit idle at home and a pregnant female goat chokes on its tethers.
“People thought he would not dare touch the Obi Of Onitsha, forgetting that he whom the gods want to destroy, they first make mad.
“Our Emperor did the unthinkable that sent shockwaves across the state and has gone ahead to carry out several other unthinkables since then.
“Governor Soludo banned and dissolved the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council (ASTRC), headed by the Obi of Onitsha. His reason was that the Act establishing it had expired.
“Just as he attended a renowned priest’s funeral church service for his late mother and reportedly took the microphone to lambast the mourning family for choosing to throw, what he felt was an ostentatious ceremony to honour the memory of their departed matriarch.
“His anger was allegedly a security report he got that Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah had led a powerful delegation the previous night to the wake-keep where he spent several hours at Nkwelle Ezunaka with several attendees declaring their unbridled joy at the prospect of a new Anambra under the idea bearer, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah.
“Since then, several other infractions have taken place and Gov Soludo’s government has now established a penchant for disrespecting all the key institutions of the state from the clergy to the traditional institution down to the poor masses whose wares his lieutenants inhumanly destroy at will using state government agencies as if to punish them for their several public displays of organic joy whenever they accost the Senator at public functions, private visits and suchlike with chants of “incoming”.
“Recently, even newspaper vendors were not spared as many of them had their stands destroyed and newspapers confiscated.
“If Governor Soludo is not so alienated from the masses as a result of his being surrounded by little men who are afraid to tell truth to power, he would have known that what the prophet highlighted is already common knowledge on the streets, which means that God, too, has since endorsed it.”
