The Director General of the South East Governors Forum, Senator Uche Ekwunife has appealed to Christians and Nigerians to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.

Speaking at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Nri in Anambra state, she buttressed the importance of setting aside sectional, political, and religious sentiments for the national interest.

During the visit, Senator Ekwunife donated a multi-million naira 14-seater vehicle to the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), urging the congregation and Christians across Nigeria to pray for President Tinubu and other government leaders.

She said: “Society becomes more habitable when people make sacrifices. Thus far, I have been consistent in playing my part.

“Today, I urge you to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and other leaders of notable public institutions. Praying for our leaders is critical to ensuring a more fraternal coexistence, economic stability and rapid development.

“Just like the Bible says, it is our obligation to put our leaders in prayer, and this explains why I’m urging the church to pray for Mr President, knowing that once he gets it right in the provision of sectoral needs, requests and expectations, Nigeria will get better.

“So far, he has not disappointed the electorates because his decisions from inception focus on the Renewed Hope Agenda for which he campaigned and was elected president.”

She reiterated her commitment to supporting the church, highlighting the crucial role of churches in promoting peaceful coexistence and good governance.

While presenting the gift, Senator Ekwunife stated that the donation fulfilled a pledge made after the 2023 general elections to address the church’s mobility constraints in spreading the gospel.

She encouraged societal sacrifices for a more habitable environment, emphasizing the need for prayers to ensure leaders provide for the nation’s needs.
