Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have allegedly shot and killed two members of the Anambra Vigilante Service at Aguluzigbo in Anaocha Local Government of Anambra State.
A viral video of the attack which was sighted by The Eastern Updates on social media on Wednesday showed two persons lying along the road.
A man who spoke in Igbo language, believed to be a gunman, said, “You have seen what the unknown gunmen have done in Aguluzigbo now.”
When newsmen contacted the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, he confirmed there was an attack at Aguluzigbo by armed men.

Speaking on the number of casualties, he said two persons sustained injuries.
According to him, the Police and local vigilantes resisted the attack.
He noted that normalcy has since returned to the area following the deployment of security operatives.
‘All I know is that the Police and Local vigilante resisted the attack, and two of their men sustained gun injuries. Normalcy has been returned to the area following the deployment of Police operatives.
‘The situation is being monitored; there is a deliberate operation to arrest the suspects.’
Aguluzigbo is a town in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State that comprises six villages, including Iruowelle, Etuleze, Ihulu, Ufa, Ifite, and Nduana.
