The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Abia State’s Deputy Governor, Engineer Ikechukwu Emetu, Mr. Chukwudi Eke Mba, has reassured the public about the positive and collaborative relationship between Governor Alex Otti and Deputy Governor Emetu.

Mr. Mba, through an official press statement sent to the media, rejected the claims circulating on social media about a strained relationship between Otti and Emetu, reaffirming their amicable collaboration.

According to the deputy governor’s aide, he has been inundated with numerous phone calls and text messages related to the story. He appealed to both Abians and the general public to disregard the reports, asserting that they were deliberately crafted to sow discord, disharmony, and tension. He also claimed that the source of the misleading information has ties to the PDP.

Mba said: ‘I have been inundated with calls and text messages this evening over a deliberate false attempt to cause disaffection between the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, and his loyal Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, proclaiming “a cold war” between them.’

‘Again, his uninformed conscience failed him by attributing me to being a member of the PDP. He is a well known actor in promoting content/posts with the intention to stir negativity and conflict, sow discord and create unnecessary tension. However, his intent and that of his paymasters is already dead on arrival.’

‘l want to take this opportunity to assure all Abia indigenes, residents and friends that the working relationship between Governor Alex Otti and Engr Ikechukwu Emetu remains not only cordial but also highly effective for the long awaited Abia development. The long standing harmonious working relationship between them cannot be overemphasized as seen in their glaring shared common commitment to the betterment of our dear State.’

‘Let there be no doubt that our Governor and Deputy Governor are working diligently and harmoniously to serve you. Our state’s interests remain at the forefront of their actions, and we can look forward to continued progress under their leadership.’

‘I remain a proud card-carrying member of the Labour Party and dutifully discharged every obligation given to me towards ensuring the overwhelming victory of the Labour Party at all levels. My activities before, during and after the 2023 elections are crystal clear to the knowledge of all and sundry. I am not a member of PDP and I reject being one’, Eke Mba said.

A recent incident to remember is that on Thursday, various stories circulated on social media platforms, alleging a chilly relationship between Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu.

It was reported that the governor had allegedly directed his deputy to relieve his Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Eke Mba, of his duties, citing allegations of PDP membership.

Moreover, the report alleged that one of the governor’s prominent appointees has begun to handle tasks that would conventionally be part of the deputy governor’s responsibilities.
