Some youths in Owerri, Imo State, yesterday took to the streets to protest the comment of a former governor, Emeka Ihedioha, labelling those who won’t vote Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic (PDP), as saboteurs.

The Eastern Updates recalls that Ihedioha had asserted that Nigeria’s presidency would rotate to the South-East after the administration of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, if he wins next year’s election.

He also called those supporting Peter Obi and Labour Party saboteurs.

Ihedioha, in the video, added that Nigeria could not afford to make mistakes in the 2023 election and that there are two parties in the election, the PDP and the All Progressives Congress.

However, the protesting youths under the aegis of Coalition for Peter Obi, stated that he insulted the sensitivity of the Igbo people and not just the supporters of Obi and the Labour Party, LP.

Meanwhile, Ihedioha has since apologised for his comment.

Meanwhile, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide – Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, have openly frowned at and condemned the saboteur tag which had been slammed on Ndigbo by the former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha.

Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, who is the National President of the Ohaneze Youth Council,  who had made the condemnation had revealed this while speaking with newsmen in Owerri, on Friday.

This is following Ihedioha’s speech in Ghana, while he had been addressing the Imo people, during which he referred to the teeming supporters of Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential candidacy in Igbo land as “saboteurs”.

Ihedioha, who addressed the Igbo community in Ghana over the weekend had revealed that the Igbos were sabotaging their political future for not supporting the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
