ABSU Student Arrested For Faking Own Kidnap

A 200 level political science student of the Abia State University (ABSU) simply identified as Nnamdi has been arrested by the security personnel of the University for faking his own kidnap.

According to reports made available to the Eastern Updates, Nnamdi had confessed after his arrest that he sent a text message to his friend around 3 am on Thursday claiming that he has been kidnapped alongside other three students by 6 men carrying AK47 rifles to play a prank on his friend.

The 200 political science student went further to claim that he had no criminal intentions in engaging in such act and while appealing for forgiveness for the pains inflicted on the University as a result of the ungodly act.

It was also gathered that a friend of the suspect and 300 level Mass Communication student; Faith Godson upon receiving a text message from Nnamdi that he had been kidnapped immediately alerted the University security which swung into action and arrested Nnamdi who was hiding in his lodge off the University campus.

Confirming the incident, the chief security officer ABSU, Retired Navy Commander ThankGod Evulobi, said they received a distress call that a student has been kidnapped and swung into action only to discover that Nnamdi faked his own kidnap.

He added that they had made their findings known to the University Senate to take appropriate action against the supposed victim in line with the rules and regulations guiding the University.

The suspect is still in the custody of the ABSU security department while the verdict of the university senate is being awaited.
