The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended 34-year-old Nwokpoku Emmanuel in connection with suspected involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery. His arrest follows a series of ongoing investigations aimed at curbing rising criminal activities in the state.

Emmanuel was apprehended after he, along with his accomplices, reportedly kidnapped a victim and extorted a ransom of N15 million. The operation, which has raised alarm in the region, marks another example of the growing threat posed by armed criminal groups in the area.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesman for the state, announced on Saturday that the red Mercedes Benz GLE 450, which had been stolen during the kidnapping, was recovered from Emmanuel. The vehicle’s recovery marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the crime.

Ikenga further revealed that the police are actively pursuing other members of the gang, with a particular focus on their leader, known only as ‘Ebuka.’ Authorities are determined to bring the remaining suspects to justice and dismantle the criminal network.
