In a fresh development as regards the bribery scandal within the Nigerian correctional service, the House of Representatives has invited the Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyode to participate in the investigation concerning the ₦15 million bribery allegations.
This is coming after the Joint House Committee decided to look into claims of bribery involving the EFCC.
In a letter dated 27th September 2024, the committee requested the EFCC Chairman and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service to show up on Monday, September 30, along with all officers linked to the accusation.

The accusation of bribery against the anti-graft agency and the Nigeria Correctional Service stemmed from a viral social media voice chat involving Idris Okuneye, a crossdresser sentenced earlier this year for naira misuse.
The trending voice chat claimed that Bobrisky paid ₦15 million to EFCC to dismiss money laundering charges and stayed in a VIP facility instead of prison.
The House Committee is also inviting Bobrisky and a social media influencer, Martins Otse, known as Very Dark Man, on social media who released the voice recording.
Reacting to recent reports on the alleged bribery and corruption in the Nigerian correctional service sector and the EFCC, the Federal Government has directed an ‘unconditional and comprehensive’ investigation into the allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) involving celebrity crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, a.k.a. Bobrisky.
Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had given the directive on Wednesday in a statement signed by his media aide, Babatunde Alao, following reports that Bobrisky, who was imprisoned for six months over Naira note abuse offences, was given a preferential treatment by NCoS and EFCC officials instead of spending his jail term at a custodial facility in Lagos.
